As an internationally active research organization, the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft is aware of its social responsibility and therefore unequivocally committed to the upholding of human rights throughout the entire value chain. Our holistic approach includes not only our own business activities but also all stakeholders along the value chain, such as suppliers and business partners. The aim is to identify any violations and address them by taking adequate measures − including the immediate termination of business relations. Our own voluntary commitment is set forth in the Declaration of Principles for the Respect of Human Rights and includes a description of the main human rights addressed as well as processes and measures for compliance.
When joining the UN Global Compact in 2017, the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft declared its commitment to the continuous support and implementation of the UN’s ten generally recognized principles for ethical business practices. The creation of the Declaration of Principles for the Respect of Human Rights is thus an elementary component of our activities in the area of corporate social responsibility.
