Internships

Are you a know-it-all? Then work on it! Your internship at Fraunhofer

A young woman and a young man are sitting at a workbench soldering.

Are you definitely leaning toward a career in STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) but not yet sure where your path will lead once you finish school? Do you enjoy asking questions and trying out new things? Analyzing, observing and being there when REAL solutions are created? If so, an internship with us is the perfect way to jump-start your professional career. Most of our institutes and research units offer one- to two-week internship opportunities for secondary school students.

And if you’re more interested in the business or administrative side of things, our administration team will also be happy to indulge your curiosity and rely on your support as an intern.

What you get out of it: benefits of interning at Fraunhofer

It’s simple: You get a first impression of what it is like to work at Fraunhofer, which will tell you whether your dream job is a good fit for you. An internship will also automatically grow your knowledge and experience. Along the way, you will also get to know our departments and tasks and forge helpful ties, all in a relaxed atmosphere.

Plus, you will get the chance to dive into fresh topics in science and industry now, before the rest of the world even hears about them.

Requirements

To do an internship with us, you should be a student enrolled in grades 8 through 13 at a general education or vocational school and have an interest in the kinds of subjects we work on.

Internships last one to two weeks. You are free to choose the specific timing, scheduling your internship either to coincide with a certain school event or during your school vacation on your own initiative.
