Fraunhofer USA Center Midwest CMW
Fraunhofer USA Center Midwest has worked on applied research and development projects for U.S. industry and government agencies in the areas of surface technologies, carbon materials, additive manufacturing and laser applications since 1994. The center's technology portfolio covers a variety of markets, including automotive, energy, healthcare, aerospace, medical, environmental and water.
The center has state-of-the-art laboratory facilities and has two locations in the state of Michigan. The Coatings and Diamond Technologies Division works to develop equipment, processes and materials for thin film, diamond and fused filament fabrication applications and has laboratories on the campus of partner Michigan State University in East Lansing, MI. The Laser Applications Division in Plymouth, MI, has expertise in laser materials processing, including laser cutting and welding, buildup welding, additive manufacturing, and heat treatment.
Fraunhofer USA CMW offers a full range of services in the following areas: process development, design and construction of equipment and components, prototyping, quality assurance, consulting, and education and training. Fraunhofer USA CMW is ISO 9001 certified. Fraunhofer USA CMW’s goal is to provide customers with competitive next generation technology solutions, including advanced process development of new materials, including technology transfer and equipment installations.
