Fraunhofer at the HANNOVER MESSE
Fraunhofer solutions for tomorrow‘s resilient and sustainable value creation.
Fraunhofer solutions for tomorrow‘s resilient and sustainable value creation.
From April 12 to 16, twenty Fraunhofer Institutes, the Fraunhofer Group for Production, the Fraunhofer Cluster of Excellence Cognitive Internet Technologies CCIT and the Competence Center for Quantum Computing will be presenting their solutions for the production of tomorrow – solutions for safeguarding the technological leadership and technological sovereignty of Germany and of Europe. Fraunhofer is committed to maximizing our economy’s performance for the post-corona era. We are pressing ahead with research in quantum computing and hydrogen technology and accelerating the development of 5G-based solutions, central elements in the implementation of new IoT applications. With our knowledge and expertise, we are lending a helping hand especially to SMEs, in the AI sector for example.

The COVID-19 pandemic is taking its toll on day-to-day life, on people’s health, on businesses, on the domestic economy and on global trade. Since the outbreak of the pandemic, experts at Fraunhofer have been playing their part in the fight against the pandemic by providing front line support for businesses and communities in an effort to deal with its immediate effects and the aftermath. Drawing on outstanding research, entrepreneurial spirit and unique system expertise across all research fields, Fraunhofer is identifying new areas at an early stage, creating its own impetus for the future and offering precise custom-fit technology solutions to ensure the sustainable value creation of tomorrow – you can see this already today at the HANNOVER MESSE 2021 Digital Edition: #WeKnowSolutions
Hydrogen, quantum computing, artificial intelligence: Germany and Europe are on the way to a self-defined future. To create a sustainable road traffic system, hundreds of thousands of fuel cells will be needed for hydrogen-powered cars. How can we successfully produce fuel cell components in cycles lasting just seconds? How can we qualify SMEs without any expert knowledge of AI to adapt AI algorithms themselves and use them in their quality assurance procedures? Which opportunities do companies have to prepare for the use of 5G on an industrial scale and to consider their requirements and specific business processes from the outset? Fraunhofer will be answering this and other questions at this year’s HANNOVER MESSE.
“It is essential that we promote the transformation of the German economy in the quest for sustainable value creation and to guarantee our competitiveness,” explains Fraunhofer President Prof. Reimund Neugebauer. “This includes encouraging sector coupling and new systems of mobility, launching hydrogen technologies and carbon cycles for sustainable production and expanding the digital infrastructure within Germany. An important prerequisite for meeting this challenge is sovereignty in central, strategically important areas of technology such as artificial intelligence, quantum technology, cybersecurity and, of course, medicine. In this context, economy and ecology are not opposing forces. We can bring ecological and economic aspects into harmony by producing, working and living in ways that capture the spirit of a bioeconomy.”
Technological progress is the driving force behind economic efficiency, creating the basis for a resilient society and paving the way for sustainable activities. Our researchers offer solutions for technological sovereignty and for resilient enterprise – solutions for overcoming crises in a networked world in technically, socially and economically superior style.
Machine learning and artificial intelligence, hydrogen technologies, quantum computing, Industrie 4.0 applications in 5G networks, cognitive internet technologies for digital sovereignty, digital engineering and man-machine interaction, robotics, predictive maintenance and augmented reality: We will be showcasing the production of the future at HANNOVER MESSE Digital Edition 2021.
