Another subject area for the Supply Chain Management Strategy department is internationalizing tender procedures and bringing the idea of becoming Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft suppliers to the attention of bidders from all over the world. This will increase competition and open up new business opportunities while also promoting diversity and innovation.
Including international providers in tender procedures makes it possible to shorten supply chains and increase the diversity of products and services offered. It also enhances efficiency: International tender procedures make it possible to benefit from the best offerings worldwide and purchase lower-cost, higher-quality products and services directly.
In particular, the internationalization of contract award procedures also makes it possible to promote sustainable development goals such as environmental action, social responsibility and fair working conditions worldwide. Applying national and international standards and guidelines is one way to promote sustainability-related aspects. Stringent adherence to national laws (especially the LkSG) and our sustainable procurement strategies allow us to exert a positive influence on our global suppliers’ sustainability practices.
